The only possibilities of a "new shape and direction" for Europe are:

1. Eurabia, run and controlled by Islam; or

2. Outright collapse, political, social and economic.

Starmer, Macron and now Merz are unable to run their own countries. Led by the arch-incompetent von der Leyen, they have now hurled themselves into a vast flurry of faux-patriotism and mock heroics.

Which is simply a blend of displacement activity, compensation mechanism and escapism.

While their general publics simply aren't interested.

You are advocating the EU federalism that has done much to destroy Europe's nations.

And thus Europe's ability to defend itself. Outside the ivory tower of commentators and think tank personnel, no one is prepared to die for the EU or Europe. No one will ever do so. Nations did command such loyalty - but not now.

In fact, quite a lot of people are still prepared to die for nations. And neither I nor anyone else has been advocating EU federalism on this: what is being advocated is collaboration between nations, which is what NATO has been doing for 75 years and which the European NATO members now need to do between themselves. Even De Gaulle, the original advocate of a "Europe of Nations", would agree and approve
